Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative on Workplace, Workforce and Working Families

In the past several decades there has been an increasing mismatch between the workplace and the workforce. Although the work-life needs of modern-dual earner and working class families have changed significantly in the last several years, the workplace structure has remained virtually unchanged. Recognizing this fundamental issue, the Sloan Foundation has created the Sloan Centers on Working Families—six multidisciplinary research centers at some of the most prestigious academic institutions across America.

To begin to build awareness and credibility for the field among academics and thought leaders, the Sloan Foundation engaged the LGI Communications team to effectively brand the movement toward flexibility at work.

The first product from the strategy is a cornerstone piece for the field, "Creating Family-Friendly Work" which effectively integrates the diverse work of the Centers, over 200 other Sloan grantees from the field, and the testimonials of the brightest and best thought leaders from the public and private sectors. The piece is currently being widely disseminated by the Foundation.

Other LGI family and community success stories include the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities, and the UCLA Center for Community Health. Other LGI success stories in workforce and workplace development include The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the National Network of Sector Partners, and many others.
